Bergerac is ideally located in the Dordogne region of France, providing the perfect base for a holiday spent exploring one of the nation's best loved locations. Due to it's many historical remains, Dordogne has long been regarded as the birthplace of French history - it has a number of castles, Roman archaeological remains, fortresses and even the UNESCO heritage listed cave paintings of Lascaux at Montignac. Bergerac is also a fantastic location to try French cuisine including foie gras for which the surrounding region is famous.

Bergerac International Airport, sometimes known as Bergerac-Roumanière Airport (Aèroport de Bergerac-Roumanière), is located just south of the N21 ring-road in the satellite town of Roumanière (approximately two kilometres south of Bergerac). The airport is not large and is mainly visited by seasonal and low-budget services. FlyBe travels routes from Birmingham, London and Manchester amongst others, whilst Ryan Air visits from Bristol, Liverpool, and more. Car hire for visiting the region is recommended, and it is also advisable that you ensure the car you rent has both heating and air conditioning - the Dordogne region can be quite cold in winter (with ground frosts common) and quite hot in summer (sometimes the days reach over 30°C). The car rental companies that operate out of Bergerac-Roumanière Airport include Budget, Avis, UCar, Hertz, Europcar and National Citer.
Getting into Bergerac from the airport is easy - simply take the N21 Route d'Agen north, this will eventually merge into Av. Paul Painleve, cross La Dordogne river, and take you into the centre of town.
